And I loved both of those books. I just also happened to be the kind of crazily obedient kind of kid who did not realize until she was grown up that it would have been physically possible to disobey Mom and Dad! (I was shocked when my little brother started acting out—it had honestly NEVER OCCURRED to me as a kid that I wasn't cosmically bound by what they told me to do or not to do!)cindy baldwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01173344689280406987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4744503719151927589.post-77749755019755289852012-05-01T13:49:36.158-04:002012-05-01T13:49:36.158-04:00I'd read "The Boxcar Children" and &...I'd read "The Boxcar Children" and "My Side of the Mountain" too many times as well, which I blame for the sneaking out, lol. I blame most of my adventures on books. Dangerous things, books--they give you ideas.<br />Really, though, I used to go out my window all the time, up until I was about 13 or 14. I kept the screen out, so it was really easy. When I was feeling emotionally turbulent (which was frequent) I'd go sit on the trunk of the car and stare at the stars and listen to the crickets. I didn't usually go very far, though. :-)Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00266401197805141586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4744503719151927589.post-80442365156782737632012-05-01T12:57:57.545-04:002012-05-01T12:57:57.545-04:00Ahh, suddenly it all makes sense! I don't think I ever would have been brave enough to sneak out of my house at age 11!cindy baldwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01173344689280406987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4744503719151927589.post-1924742459052828732012-05-01T11:58:36.594-04:002012-05-01T11:58:36.594-04:00I was obsessed with horse books when I was a kid, ...I was obsessed with horse books when I was a kid, so I read a lot of Westerns. The idea probably came from one of those. :-)Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00266401197805141586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4744503719151927589.post-48740728285621391312012-05-01T00:05:14.925-04:002012-05-01T00:05:14.925-04:00Okay, this seriously had me laughing out loud! I thought it was just a Western thing! Anyway, I'm completely cracking up at the idea of the two of you hiding on the hay bales...cindy baldwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01173344689280406987noreply@blogger.com
