So, I finally fulfilled my dream.... While in China, I was able to eat DOG!! That's right, friends. That furry little thing that they call "Man's Best Friend" was served in a steaming bowl of broth and squash. Our translator explained that it was "very old dog." It was clearly someone's pet for a long time. That's how a dog gets to be old in China. ;) The ones at the market are all puppies....
congrats..... i think
ReplyDeleteAre you still going to have dog for Thanksgiving? (Michelle's Mom)
ReplyDeletethat's the hope. shannon has religiously vetoed every attempt I have made to buy a dog to eat. it's like she's squeamish about killing a little puppy or something.... wow. I sound really evil when you put it like that....
ReplyDeleteI'll pass. I think I'd rather eat the pig thingy for Thanksgiving. I don't know how it's possible that we eat chickens, cows, pigs, fish, or turkeys but when it comes to dogs, that's just...I dunno...weird?
ReplyDeleteSorry, didn't mean to make it sound evil. People eat different things I understand that. In the south they eat squirrels. so which is worse? For me i'm not sure. I know Michelle said it wasn't that bad. Thanksgiving here is the 27th, can u tell Michelle that? I keep forgetting.

I know you weren't making me sound evil. :) I did that! I think eating squirrels is worse, anyway. There's not really enough meat to justify eating it. Of course, I've eaten chicken here with less meat on it than the average squirrel, so that's not much of an argument, I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll give Michelle a heads up as to Thanksgiving day! Thanks for letting us know.
